I'm back from Spa.
Spa is, of course, a small Belgian town and is in fact the original spa, the one where all the others got their name from. And if they just promoted that a bit more, I'm sure they'd have enough money to last themselves a few centuries.
As of now, Spa is small and a bit neglected (although it's gotten better during recent years). Spa has been my usual hang-out since I was eight, but for some reason I still can't find my way through the town. This probably has to do with the Francofolies, a festival that takes place every year around the 21st. I can find my way through Francofolies blindfolded, but once all the stands have disappeared, I'm hopelessly lost.
There's also the fact that I know the surrounding forests a lot better than the town itself, even though I still manage to get lost on even the easiest paths. That's mostly because there are intersections every 20 meters (my sense of direction is actually rather good). Our hotel is located at Spaloumont, one of the hills surrounding Spa itself, and the climb is rather tiring. There's an elevator but that thing's just not worth the money. In fact the easiest way to get to the valley is straight through the graveyard. One entrance in Spa, one on top of the hill. Easy, but not preferable at night. Plus, very slippery when it's been raining.
Also, now I'm sore from climbing the hill too fast. One shouldn't do that after a year without any serious height differences.
I only spent two days this year, mostly to see some old friends. One is starting to degenerate into a regular jerk, especially when he's drunk, and I feel like talking some sense into him one of these days, or, since that probably won't work, at least confront him with it.
On a completely different topic, I feel like looking for some freelance work, only I have no idea where to start or what to write. I might have some people in my address book who can help me, but if anyone knows more about the topic, I'd be very grateful.
