Merlin 2.1: the one aunt and kitty Merlijn watched as well

asfkjdqk MERLIN'S BACK! AND IT WAS AWESOME!

Okay, so gratuitious fanservice right from the start? Fanservice involving Bradley James? Me like. Me REALLY like. And Merlin just appearing right away when Arthur called him? I hereby conclude that he sleeps in Arthur's chamber, no other possibility.

For all his graverobbing evilness, Cedric was kinda awesome. I only feel a bit disappointed about one thing. Arthur, you should know better than trusting the first guy who comes along. Especially if the guy who, oh, I don't know, DRANK POISON FOR YOU, is telling you that he's evil. And there wasn't enough Morgana and Gwen (the Gwen/Arthur moments were really kinda sweet IMO)

Sorcerer guy going 'You could have Arthur trembling at your feet' made me think 'Wrong thing to say buddy, you've lost now.'

... Well, that's what I thought after the inevitable detour to the gutter.

Also, my aunt watched this episode with me. It was her first Merlin episode. Here are a few sample conversations.

Aunt: (about Gwen) But she's obviously head over heels for him!
Me: Well yeah, now. In first season, they had, like, five minutes of interaction.
Aunt: But it's cute!
Me: Well yeah. Not the fan-preffered couple though.
Aunt: What is?
Me: MerlinxArthur
Aunt: WHAT?!
Me: One day I'm gonna make you watch season one.

And

Aunt: They could've cast a better-looking actor for Merlin.
Me: Blasphemy! He's adorable!
Aunt: His ears are weird.
Me (whining): But... But... he's adorable! And awesome!
Aunt: The blond guy's good-looking.
Me: Duh, it's Bradley James. But Colin's cute! HOW CAN YOU NOT THINK SO?!

Also, this was the weirdest moment of the evening:

Me: Merlijn, be quiet, I can't hear what Merlin's saying.

It seems as if Gwen does sleep in Morgana's so this makes perfect sense *G*

I seem to need some fanservice wrt to Colin after all the shirtless bradley scenes in this one *nods* And yes, Arthur should have listened to Merlin, but figure this is a short-hand version of season 1 for new viewers. Oh and yeah, I do like the G/A as well.

Well, it seems like Arthur kinda reverted in personality. I thought they were past that point. But your shorthand explanation does make sense. Not that I like it, but it makes sense :/

Hmm the thing with Gwen is she's not a daughter of a nobleman(but a blacksmith who was murdered by Arthur's dad although she seems to not be holding a grudge)the snippet for next week might fix that, but she did more than like Lancelot and legend had her cheating with him in the end. Merlin will get Arthur eventually :)

I know, but this series isn't exactly big on following the original legend. I ship ArthurxMerlin, like a lot of people, but I really like Gwen and she and Arthur were adorable IMO.

Besides, it's BBC One. However much we wish for it, ArthurxMerlin won't become canon. There is one solution that has been proposed in quite a few fanfics, namely, Gwen and Arthur marrying because he has to marry and he trusts her much more than any of the noblewomen who are only out to become queen. It leaves both the possibility of MerlinXArthur and GwenxLancelot open. ^^

I loved Cedric OMG! XD And as stupid as it is of Arthur not to trust Merlin, I think that Merlin doesn't go around trying to convince him in the best possible way ("Hey, that guy whose amazing servant abilities you've been rubbing in my face for the whole episode is possessed by an evil spirit, why don't you believe me!?")

... I won't believe Gwen is in love with Arthur until she starts stumbling over her words in his presence *is hopeful* I know that her love for Arthur is supposed to be something more than just a crush eventually, and character growth and all that, but I *love* Gwen-with-a-crush, I don't want to be cheated of it...

There can be no doubts about Merlin being madly in love with Arthur in this episode though, imo...

And yeah, you've got a point there. From Arthur's POV, it must've looked like Merlin was just very jealous. So, well, the boys were just both being stupid again <3

Gwen-with-a-crush is adorable. so is regular Gwen, but we must have crushing!Gwen in this series. It'll be awesome. And with Merlin being this madly in love ('everything I do is for him' My heart broke a little for him...) I just want a gigantic foursome: D

Heh, One day I'll force her to watch it. As soon as our DVD player works again xD

And yeah, his name is Merlijn, which is basically the Dutch name for Merlin. Before you ask, my aunt picked the name :D
