Doing much better, finally
Sep. 15th, 2008 10:16 pmSo I'm still sleeping an awful lot, but that's to be expected. I'm spending most of my awake time writing on a story I would like to see published one day, I'm up to 17 000 words in one week so I think I'm doing fairly good. Of course, it'll need a lot of editing and rereading before it even vaguely resembles a publishable story, but I like it.
I was going over my plot today when I realized I'd have to kill off my favorite character, so that hurt a fair bit. I'll probably only get there in about 20 000 - 25 000 words, but at the rate I'm writing, that's probably next week. In an day or two, I'll probably overtake Crossroads in length. I've already written more than twice as much as my longest Dutch story. (for the record, this one too is in Dutch)
I'm actually working along the NaNoWriMo standards. Since I can't participate in November (way too busy), I'm doing it as a self-imposed challenge. Won't get any certificates for it, but the satisfaction is enough. So I should be done somewhere around end October.
It feels really good to be able to fully focus on my writing. I've got wonderful betas now, one's a good friend of mine who took creative writing classes with me and has proofread almost everything I've ever written. The other's my aunt, who's very good at pointing out inconsistencies.
also, I am starting to ship my own characters. Go on, tell me I've spent to much time in fandoms.
